  • Sure does. They just want me to reduce file size to keep stress off the server.

  • Ugh is right. Supervisor is an AE editor, not FCP, so I think that’s why she recommended the H.264. I know it’s not good for editing… Sigh. I really want to edit the XDCAM stuff as is, and might just pull the whole thing onto my computer…

    Blerg.

Okay, here is a picture. Please excuse the HORRIBLE scan…

The dots should appear at random and then stay put. Hopefully my drawing makes sense!

    THANKS!!

You make a great point. I didn’t even think of that, which I probably should have. Let me amend. How about 100 dots? Even 2 dots at this point would be good 🙂

    I know, it’s a ton of dots!

To (try) and answer your questions:

    1) Not sure what res I will be working in…
    2) The dots will be all one color
    3) They are not making a pattern, but should appear in a line — maybe there’s a way I can make them appear on a motion path?
    4) They can be all the same size — they don’t have to, though.
    5) 3D space not needed.
    6) Not animated (unless you count popping)
    7) I would like them to pop into space and then freeze

    Thanks!!

Thanks for the reply! I’m looking into this. I’m not much of a particle user, so I’m wondering: How to make them APPEAR and then stay in one spot rather than explode or burst?

    Thanks,
    R

    Hello,

Richard and Noah: The recorder is an Olympus DS-30. Here are the specs: https://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_archived_product_details.asp?id=1276&fl=4

Ty: Thanks for the welcome! I’m not sure yet about what type of mixer, if any, I’ll be using. The mic(s) will likely be wired lavs.

I’ll mostly be shooting interviews, maybe some action shots later down the road — probably MOS.

I totally understand about my vagueness. I wish I was at home and could get my hands on that recorder. It’s pocket-sized but isn’t one of those wimpy ones people use to record lectures or anything. I’ll grab that model number when I get home…

By “with,” I mean “record sync sound.” What I’m asking — basically — is there anything specific the recorder/recorders in general needs to be able to do in order to record sync sound with a DSLR? Any kind of frame-rate sync dealy?

  • No! Brilliant! Thank you.

Is there a way to see the second node of a 2-node camera? (I’m coming from basic Maya, so I’m thinking there’s a way to position it similarly…)

Thanks so much! This did help a little. FCP’s image handling is maddening. Never have this problem when working with Premiere. URG.
