FWIW I had a horrible experience with buy.com – do not buy from them. Charged me twice, defective units and took forever to resolve. Good results with Amazon, MicroCenter and B&H.

Unfortunately, you can not copy the entire card from slot a-to-b etc, you can only copy a clip. To copy an entire card you have to copy every clip, one at a time. Sucks.

Could be because that BNC on the back of the EX3 is HD-SDI OUTPUT not input.

EDIT: Sorry I thought you said EX3, now I see you said EX30. My mistake.

You are correct, Noah. It displays white in Windows Internet Explorer, but cow color in Google Chrome. Strange that none of the other forums do. Must be one little line of code that triggers transparency in Chrome. Thanks for the response.

There are no proxy files with XDCAM EX, only the XDCAM HD. You must import the mxf files output from Sony Clipbrowser, just as you would a quicktime file or a jpeg.

What kind of project are you importing it into in Avid? It should match the footage. HD for 1920×1080 (HQ) or HDV for 1440×1080 (SQ). Also make sure you right-click on source or record monitor and select “16:9”

In Avid Media Composer, I Export->HDV which creates an m2t elementary stream file which I drag into MyDVD-10. It rewraps the m2t to Mpeg. I create an SD DVD with 16:9 pixels. It plays as widescreen on widescreen TV, as letterboxed on 4:3 TVs. Quick and easy, looks good too.

Not talking about copying (I use Shotput for that) – just exporting MXF (which is just rewrapping). More than twice as slow.

I’ve gone back to version 1 becuae it’s at least twice as fast as Version 2 at exporting MXF files. Time is money.
