I will give more info and screenshots later when I get home.
Not sure if everyone understands my problem. My Sony 4k camcorder creates a MP4 files that plays perfectly on my PC, and plays perfectly on the Vegas Pro 13 timeline. But after editing, and when it comes time to render, there are not many options for 4k. The few that are there, after created, won’t play with any player on PC… I will give more details later… Thanks,
    Ron

It was the free Win10 “Upgrade”

What is odd is I still also have Vegas 9 on same system, and it did not have that problem.

Let me re-word my original post,
    instead of:
“when I click the external monitor button to see timeline on my big flat screen”
    I meant:
“when I click the external monitor button to see the PREVIEW of my timeline on my big flat screen TV”

The top picture is my TV (external monitor)
The bottom is my PC monitor.
This is what happens when I press the “Video Preview on External Monitor” button
Since I upgraded to Win 10, it is like this. Before with Win 7 it was normal

This eye piece problem with the HFG20 and HFG10, was it fixed with the HFG30?
Hard to tell with pictures online…

Thanks to everyone for the DETAILED replies…

OK, let me explain why I WAS interested in a cam with dual SD slots. Lots of my projects are right around an hour or so, and it was a pain switching tapes, with 2 SD cards, I wouldn’t have to worry about switching in the middle of important scenes.

But, from what I have been reading, it seems like I can get a good bit on just one SD card…
That said, what is important to me is the keep price below $1000, and easy quick access to manual exposure button/knob. I use that a lot when filming High school musicals, (spot light on spotlight off/ low light)… 4K would be nice, but not extremely important to me now. Also what is important to me is that the files will work on Vegas pro 13’s timeline…

    Now looking at:
    Panasonic HC-WXF991K
    Panasonic HC-VX870K
    Panasonic HC-X920
    Sony FDRAX53/B

    Thanks,
    Ron

Interesting device… But I am in need of a new cam. That Atomos Ninja Star would be slick to have as a backup in case SD card in cam goes bad…

Eric, so you ARE happy with it?
I read some reviews about how some don’t like the touch screen menu’s. But correct me if I’m wrong, most or all new cams are all like that also…

    Using my Vegas Pro 13…

OK, here is what I have found. I just did 2 renders. 1st one, was MainConcepts, “HDV 1080-60i with a few adjustments, I slid to best quality, and made it variable 2 pass. It turned out horrible, kept going to black and pixilations. That was the first time I ever slid that bar over to the right for best quality, maybe that was it.

Because I used to do the variable 2 pass ALL the time with Vegas Pro 9, and worked great then.
Anyway, just did it a second time with MainConcepts, “HDV 1080-60i, without changing anything and BINGO, perfect!

Looks like I am sticking with MainConcepts, for now…
