I know this thread has been sitting for a few months, but I’m hunting for a way to rename captured m2t hdv files so the filename includes recording date/time and this is one of the most recent places anyone has discussed it. The closest I’ve come to finding something (other than spending $80 on DVMP Pro… just for that) is a utility that creates a subtitle file with date/time, geo position, etc. by reading that info from an AVCHD (.m2t) file.

Next stop is to see if Sony has any way to suggest features for their capture tool in Vegas like “Capture File-Name Templates.” Maybe they’ll consider adding the ability to substitute a few basic variables (e.g. recorded date-time, tape position, etc.) into a captured file’s name.
