Are your mocha Shape effect instances applied onto a single AE layer?

Do you have at least one Subtraction Matte (a shape that is used to cut out another shape) among the nine shapes?

  • I’ve been watching Rob Garrot’s C4D Essentials at lynda.com and I’ve been pleased thus far.

C4D Lite’s features seem too light for AE users. A bundle with C4D Broadcast would have been more apt IMHO.

    Cheers

  • Anyone that uses THREE Adjustment Layers with masks within a single comp needs to have their head checked!

hurhurhur – I’m obviously (hopefully) kidding BUT I suggest, though less humbly that I am usually proposed to doing; ask what it is that you are doing or trying to achieve. Me thinks there is a 95% chance that a less burdensome, more user-friendly way to achieve our goals is possible.

[Amerie Maria] “Steve uses the rendered preview for fixing the edge width and motion blur”

The rendered preview is the only way to preview MB in mochaPro. There is no MB preview support in mochaAE – you’ll have to render out your masks and apply the MB within your compositing app.

For the Edge Width, you can see this in the Canvas by making te appropriate view selections – see image below.

You will need to do the following –
    1) Switch On Mattes View
    2) Switch On Alpha View
    3) Switch Off RGB View
    4) Switch Off Colorize Mattes View – paint bucket icon (only if you want to view the matte in grayscale)

My bad, I missed the second part of your earlier post.

Steve was using mochaPro, which automatically creates mattes for each layer that is created in the LCP. mochaAE doesn’t have this feature. mochaPro can export mattes and shape layer data while mochaAE only exports shape layer data.

You should still be able to work along with his tutorials by exporting shape layers and continuing with AE or any other compositing application that imports mocha’s shape layer data.

Either you do not have any layer in the Layer Controls Panel OR you do not have a layer named Layer 1 in the Layer Controls Panel.

The naming convention in the LayerSelection Drop Menu in the Canvas is as such – “Matte for layername” where the italicized word is the actual name of a layer in the Layer Controls Menu.

[Vishal Pulikottil] “I could if I had CS 5.5 but I don’t. I only have CS 5 on my computer.
    “

    Good Answer!!! 🙂

Depending on how desperate you are, there is https://aescripts.com/pt_opensesame/ and there is PPro. If you have PPro CS5, see if you can import the CS5.5 AE. There is a loophole with using PPro to get earlier/later versions of AE to work via copy paste of assets of exporting to another version of AE.

I apologize but the specifics and relevant mechanics evade me at the moment. Hopefully, Google or a COW Search will be able to provide a more definitive answer from here.
