you need some way of warping the layers. some plugins can do that:

    Zexwerks 3d
    https://zaxwerks.com/3dwarps

    Freeform
    https://www.mettle.com/product/freeform/

    maybe this too: https://aescripts.com/bao-mask-3d-warper/

December 12, 2016 at 1:23 am in reply to: Replace Dynamically Linked After Effects Composition

I see I accidentally thought you were instancing project names and not comps… if this was necessary for my workflow , I think I would be naming my comp as “Live Comp” in AE and inside create a precomp of my current footage and this will be my “Working Comp” which I could version up WorkingComp_1,2,3 etc. this way when I want, I could just change the version inside my Live Comp by using replace source Ctrl+alt+/ with the Workingcomp I want in the project window and this will be the one that premiere is seeing. maybe it’s exactly what you had in mind since it seems similar to what you were saying.

seems useful to me if there was a way for the live composition to be tagged in some way in Ae…

[Demian Krentz] “The offline/re-link option doesn’t work, but pointing to a master AE pre-comp does.”

interesting. where does it fail exactly? I have tested this now and this works for me.

    1. I have a live Ae composition as a clip in premiere
    2. in Ae I create another version
    3. in premiere I right click on the live composition in my timeline->make offline->files remain on disk (make a shortcut if you need to do this a lot)
    4. in premiere right click->link media-> locate ->find the new aep file and click OK

December 11, 2016 at 11:06 am in reply to: Ae to AME problem

    exact Ae version?

note that if you send directly to AME then it rendering and encoding one after the other so you should calculate your total render time of course for comparison (if you haven’t already). even it total, it’s actually sometimes a bit slower than rendering first, and then manually dragging the rendered file to AME but not by much.

if after reading this it’s still an issue:

    1. try resetting your AME preferences by holding shift as you launch it (there is no dialog screen)
    2. under general preferences try to change the renderer and see if you get better performance CPU vs GPU
    3. test a simple clean project with a few simple layers and see if this is the case too. isolate the problem as much as you can

If you feel there should be an even better feature, please submit it in adobe’s wishform.

December 10, 2016 at 9:53 pm in reply to: 3D Track Error

[Mat Reynolds] “”3d camera tracker layer size must match composition”

precomp the footage -> leave all attributes. get inside that precomp and do your tracking at 100%.

nevertheless it’s probably good practice to not using dynamic link when doing compositing shots using resourceful effects. what you could do is render your footage from Ae and use that to replace your clip instead of a live composition.

[Mat Reynolds] ” I’ve seen people suggest simply dropping the clip onto a new comp and let AE create the comp and then run the camera tracker. However, my situation is a little different.”

you could do that too by simply copy pasting the clip from your Premiere timeline to an Ae similar timeline. you will get a trimmed footage. you can also copy your sequence from premiere, paste in Ae and use just the clip – render it out, replace it in premiere.

December 10, 2016 at 9:40 pm in reply to: Wrinkled Paper look on video

do you have some sort of reference of how you want it to look and animate? you can distort your paper in 2d with Ae’s distort effects (including puppet with a lower triangle mesh) or 3d distort effect like freeform.

December 10, 2016 at 10:21 am in reply to: AE Mocha Tracking Planar Surface

As for step 4 in method #2: if you paste the inverted corner pin data, it will stabilize the shot . Here it does not matter where you copy from as long as you paste at the beginning of the trimmed track. when you re-introduce the motion to the stabilized comp it is important to find the first frame you tracked from in Mocha (there should be a key-frame), push planar pin to corner and export with no invert.

Here is the project file folder. See how it works and Let me know about the issues you are having: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5wyUt17-tu2WDFEQVZvR2tudlU

btw I got a response from Rick about method #1 – he does the Motion blur manually with directional blur or use CC Force Motion blur effect on the stabilized precomp in the master comp (much better in my opinion)

December 9, 2016 at 10:01 pm in reply to: AE Mocha Tracking Planar Surface

and the third straight forward method would be to

1.copy the tracking data like this

    2. apply it to a solid

precomp the solid->leave all attributes and insert the image in the solid and fit to frame Ctrl+Alt+F

    3. precomp – leave all attributes

    4. put the image here

    5. ctrl+alt+f to fit to frame

    6. do some masking work (not so intuitive because it’s corner pinned)

    and you’re done.

    now about motion blur

    1. method #1 Power pin – sorry, will have to ask Rick about that, but since you copy corner pin that does not support motion blur so no motion blur

    2. method #2 (my favourite method so far) you could just mask out the area of the composite in the precomp using a stencil alpha solid (set a solid on top of everything and set it’s blend mode to stencil alpha). and in the master comp enable motion blur for the layer

    3. method #3 – just enable the motion blur switch.

    Take you pick!
