  • Thanks, at least it’s not just me! I suppose we won’t see an update until NAB.

I got one mostly for AE. I was having weird errors in some plug-ins (Coremelt Slice X would crash FCPX on startup), not to mention the fan on the card is really loud, and FCPX seemed really slow and buggy. I switched back to the ATI Radeon HD 5870 and FCPX is much more responsive. I may be wrong, but I believe FCPX tends to run better on AMD cards.

Hey guys did you ever figure anything out with this? I’m having issues with 7.5.1 drivers and unrendered Motion files in my timeline. If I scrub a bit the land on one it will crash. If I turn off the AJA output it’s fine. Did anyone ever hear back from AJA?

We just upgraded both the Cloverton & Harperton Mac Pro to ATI 4870’s. Though the 4870 is listed as only working with 2008 and 2009 Mac Pros, it worked in our Cloverton Mac Pro, so far… We were having rendering issues with the ATI Radeon HD 2600 with some of the more intensive effects in HD.

You’ll need to trash your FCP prefs so it will rebuild the RT Profile.

Maybe FCP 7 is optimized for Snow Leopard. From the ProRes white paper:
“Testing conducted by Apple in June 2009 using prerelease Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard and shipping
Mac Pro 8-core 2.93 GHz units with 6GB RAM and a Mac Pro RAID Card. ”

But why is there still brushed metal? Come on, how hard would it be to make it matte grey like all the other apps? It just makes it seem dated.
