  • That’s a beautiful sequence. These are just jumpcuts with dissolves placed over the cuts. I’m not sure what the official term for this technique is (jump-dissolve?).

Schoonmaker used the same technique back in After Hours, in a shot where Griffin Dunne runs up a flight of stairs and she dissolves from him at the bottom of the stairs to the top. I seem to remember some shots in Casino where she used this technique, too, but I can’t remember the specifics (some shots of money changing hands?)

Good point. I had the exact same issue a few weeks ago. The solution was to update the drivers for the eSata card. Since then, its all been running smoothly.

Same problem, here. I just upgraded to FCP 6 and Leopard running on a G5, installed the 6.0.3 drivers for Kona 2 and, on Batch Capture it completely ignored the out-point and kept rolling. Also, the response time on Capture Now was very sluggish.

I uninstalled the Aja drivers and went with v5.1 and it seems things are back to normal.

I’m having the same problem and I came across this…

It looks like this is a problem specific to AE (as you’ve noticed, files created in Motion play without any problems).

The only solution is to use the Animation codec and render it in the FCP timeline. A bit of a waste of time and drive space, but until Adobe fixes this problem that’s the workaround.
