DVD Architect will import plain text to a subtitile track. Supposedly, it’ll also import *.sub files but it seems that DVDA wan’t a very wierd *.sub format. I couldn’t get it to play well with others.

There is a free script at the VAST site that will import a sub file into Vegas and make markers out of it. That may or may not help. There is also another script there that will export those markers as a *.sub file but DVDa couldn’t read the file. Maybe you don’t need that though, but just need a way to generate text events in Vegas based on the file.

There’s a tool called Subtitle Workshop that is free and may at least help you convert *.srt files to *.sub files.
