April 14, 2005 at 1:23 pmAre you wanting to place a text generated media containing the specified text at the specified location/lengths? If yes, it can’t be done via a script.
A script could read the file, create text generated medias of the proper length at the proper location, and pick a preset for the text box. The script CANNOT change the text.
A script could create regions and name those regions with the subtitle names.
Just wondering what the ultimate goal is.

Subtitles script look like this:
————————
00:00:34:08 00:00:37:20
Text text text00:00:39:06 00:00:42:08
Text text text
————————This need for making translation (record voice over) in same time when watching video on preview monitor.

April 15, 2005 at 5:19 amDVD Architect will import plain text to a subtitile track. Supposedly, it’ll also import *.sub files but it seems that DVDA wan’t a very wierd *.sub format. I couldn’t get it to play well with others.
There is a free script at the VAST site that will import a sub file into Vegas and make markers out of it. That may or may not help. There is also another script there that will export those markers as a *.sub file but DVDa couldn’t read the file. Maybe you don’t need that though, but just need a way to generate text events in Vegas based on the file.
There’s a tool called Subtitle Workshop that is free and may at least help you convert *.srt files to *.sub files.

April 15, 2005 at 5:03 pmAhhh,
I’ve been ignoring Virtualdub. This would be a nice solution if you can then put the AVI onto the timeline and record the translation on another track.

April 15, 2005 at 5:04 pm1)Download subtlitle workshop and convert the subs to ssa format (substation alpha)
2) Get the subtitler plugin for Virtualdub (from Virtualdub site)and place it in Virtualdub plugin folder
3) Get the Satish pluginpac for Vegas(the old one with the adapter) and use the adapter in Vegas to load the virtualdub subtitler. It’s very easy and I have used it many times.
It’s a bit tricky though, there is a manual how to do it in Satish’s site
