How about just outputting from the SD/SDI output into our 844/x system. Is the down-conversion in the PDW-F70 deck as good as software?

Will this not just make the dot the hot area? it would be fine for a tv…but on a computer if you rolled over the text nothing would happen…you would have to roll over where the dot will appear?

Yeah I read about DVD error issues in 1.0. Unfortunately I have 1.5 so that isn’t the case. The problem occurred (I guess) from archiving this project to another hardrive. I need to keep it for constant updates, but I needed to move it from my internal hardrive to my large external harddrive.

I just wanted to get around having to re-transcode all the video….but I guess there is no avoiding it. The worst part about it is all the video plays fine when you preview it, and I can burn a DVD as it is. The project just wouldn’t let me inport any new video.

Since we produce our own shows, we bought a real-time DVD recorder to record to DVD. So we record a “Raw” DVD right from the edit system. Then I demux the tracks to an .m2v file and an .ac3 file. This has worked for a long time, I have triple checked and even started a new project and the file imports fine.

Unfortunately the video came from a dvd, and premiere doesn’t recognize the m2v file. So I can’t really edit it there. What kind of software would I get to convert an m2v file into something useful for premiere?

So it sees each timeline as separate media. One thing I have found to get rid of a lot of the file size is to trim the front of each clip in each timeline up to the chapter point I originally had. This is extremely an tedious way of trimming a clip. You drag the front of the clip and the back moves in…which would be fine if the audio was synced to the video clip, and if encore didn’t hang up for 5 seconds everytime you click to trim. Is there anyway to split a clip at the CTI?

Yeah, I have done that several times. It activates…but the monitor window is gone somewhere. Any other suggestions?

This sounds like a good workaround. Does anyone know how smooth the menu will flow using this methid. Will there be a lot of haning up and freezing between button moves?

Thanks for the response. How does Pinnacle compare to Adobe Encore? So far I am happy with Encore, but there seems to be a few things missing to really enhance the look of DVD menus.
