Thanks again. This is exactly what I needed to know. I am not the greatest at scripting, but it helps to know that it is possible before I pull out all my hair trying to get something to work that isn’t possible.
By the way, are there any good books, sites, resources, etc. on DVD scripting that you know of?

There are about 7 videos to watch on each menu. There will be a main menu, and then 3 sub menus with the links to the video clips. It really doesn’t matter either way whether you see the button but cannot activate it, or if the button disappears entirely.
Thanks for your response.

Well thanks for all your input guys. Yeah, this footage just ain’t workin. It is like it is double fielded….
I don’t envy me either 🙁
Thanks again.

Ok. This is strange. I am not quite sure how to explain this. But I made the comp with double the frame rate and stepped through the clip frame by frame. It changes every frame, however, there seems to be fields in each frame. On every frame I can see two sets of fields where there is a lot of motion.
I have a feeling that the footage was shot interlaced, it was brought into whatever editing program they used to cut this clip of “highlights” wrong (Brought it in as 24p footage). Then exported out as a quicktime with fields.

I don’t normally use quicktime to judge the quality of footage. But I can use it to tell if footage is interlaced or not. You can see the fields as plain as day when there is fast motion. Regardless, the footage still appears to have fields in AE.
I only discovered the frame rate when I imported it into AE. It is 24.967 fps.
I will try your suggestion about making a comp with twice the frame rate. Thanks man.

Thanks for your quick response Dave. I was under the assumption that I had to separate the fields of the footage because it looks like it is interlaced when I view the original file in quicktime.
Anyway, I am going to give these tests a try.
Thanks again!

I just finished using DVDLab Pro to complete an interactive quiz for a kids fire safety DVD. I am not a programmer, and was able to do it quite easily. The questions were all random (random 5 for each level), and if they answered 8 in a row correctly, it goes to a screen giving them a secret code to enter online to win prizes.
Ever since I bought this software (it isn’t that expensive) I rarely turn to encore for anything. Too buggy.

Thanks a lot man. I was trying to set the visibility of the arrow after I had the hotspot in effect. Thank you so much for your help!

I wanted to clone the menus because I want to make a single background that applies to all of them. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to work with motion menus. I guess you have to render them each individually after uncloning them. I am just going to stick with stills because there is no way I have time (or energy) to sit and individually render each one.
Which brings me to another question. Is there a way to set up a batch render of motion menus?

I have been searching for a while, and that was one that came up. The others looked like they did the same thing, but ended up not. I was afraid I was going to have to buy a new mac 🙂
