Thanks very much, really helpful. I’ll give that a go ☺ All the best, Rob.

Thanks for the advice. Where is the frame blending switch and what is its relevance? Perhaps you could tell me, is it better to time remap footage or footage within a composition? I’ve watched a couple of tutorials on Youtube and they nearly always remap the footage not the comp.

To a PNG sequence? I’ve never had to do that before, could you explain it to me?

Deinterlace using something like MpegStreamclip? Or do you have another suggestion?

I was thinking about using the Sennheiser as a boom mic and having the back-up recorder as just that, another source in the room, and amalgamating the two tracks (if this is a bad suggestion I would appreciate your opinion). There is no problem with recording that I’m aware of, they have just asked to have it recorded clearly. I know nothing of room dimensions, but as I understand it a roundtable discussion means that they will be sat at a single table. I was not going to run it through a mixing desk, but I could as I have access to one.

I have found that people are not always aware of what options are available to them and, even if they are, they do not have recording equipment of sufficient quality to get adequate results. I will ask for more information, but that’s what I have at the minute.

    Shot at 1080/50i, 25fps, used ProRes 422.

Yes I did view the footage on a LCD monitor and yes there was significant ‘strobing’ ie, the image seemed to split when there was motion.

Thanks both. Re-coded the original media files and reconnected in FCP and it has certainly solved the problem.

The only problem I can see is that it greatly increases the file size – they are about four or five times larger now. Is there an intermediate solution to this, ie using another codec or file format that will work just as well in FCP but doesn’t take up as much disk space??

I’m going to be doing a lot of editing work and doing it with ProRes looks like it is going to be memory hungry.

One other thing – I used Apple ProRes 4444 for quality purposes, could I use ProRes HQ, LT etc and get just as good a result??
