ahh…those clips are so good. I’m surprised that it’s an SLR camera that is used to do the timelaps.

Thanks for the link. I downloaded the file and tried converting some files. They convert, but the audio is just scratchy white noise now. Ya know what I mean? That sound a TV makes when the cable line isn’t in.
It’s sent for 16-bit 48kHz
I dunno what the deal is.
Anyone have any other ideas? Perhaps why it won’t work in quicktime?

Thanks Shane. I actually went on google too and went to that first link you posted. I tried converting it with quicktime but when i try to open in, a dialogue box opens and says “this is not a movie” so then it can’t be opened.
I appreciate the help though. I’ll try this other guy’s link.

There was only one .zip file. I unzipped it and it created a new folder with just .pcm files.

Your EXTERNAL monitor is different from your computer monitor because it doesn’t tell you what you’re doing with your computer. It’s showing you the video that’s coming out of your non linear editing program. So when you have an external monitor, you can’t drag windows to it and use it as something to enlarge your workspace.
To see the video on your external monitor, configure Final Cut to have video and audio play back through firewire. The firewire should hook up to a deck or camera. Then the deck or camera should go to a monitor or TV through RCA.
There’s other ways to do it; you can use a BlackMagic Design PCI express card. It will give you more options for import, export and monitoring. If you’re working with MiniDV though, the way I suggested in the above paragraph would be enough….i think. Thats what I do.

I was looking at it on an external monitor. There was a difference, it just wasn’t much. I didn’t think it was a big deal, but then again, I’ve only been doing video since 2005.
I just wanted to know if using this effect would cause any major problems that I was missing or was lucky enough not to experience. Thats all. I understand FCP’s isn’t that good though, so I probably won’t ever use it again unless I have too.

awesome. whats a good de-interlacer. can you download one and place it in the “plug ins” folder for final cut?

What I did in my timeline was have a clip play, and then when it got to a certain point i made it a freeze frame. I used the de-interlace filter to stop the frame from vibrating. It made it easier to bring that freeze frame into Motion.

I was curious to see what it would do if I did it on a clip that had motion. I didn’t really see a difference. I kind of looked choppier, but I kinda liked that look though. I wanted to know if anyone on here knew if it would cause any problems.

oh i don’t mean I want to draw scribbles. More like a behavior that would go the scribble sound the DJ makes with his turn tables. I envisioned sorta like making the image look like is a TV flickering and loosing signal. Know what I mean? Is there a plug in I could download for this if it’s not already an effect in Motion?

Yea, I don’t know how he will take it if I tell him I don’t like his stuff or if i start throwing out suggestions. He’s a really really nice guy and easy to get along with, but he’s also been in the business for 12 years, used to work at NFL films, and is now a producer. I’m just some kid in college; ambitious and well educated when it comes to shooting and editing, but I still feel like people are still going to look at me as just some kid in college. And incase you guys may be thinking this is a good opportunity to build my portfolio in school, trust me, this stuff wouldn’t even pass my portfolio classes in school.
