i certainly don’t mind doing a clean reinstall of the OS. I just have to make sure it’s cool with my supervisor. I figured I would need a clean reinstall of everything anyway, but I wanted to see if there were other options first.

I believe Snow Leopard is what came with this Mac because it is brand new. Also, I personally installed FCS2.
I used Disc Utility to repair permissions thinking that maybe a software update was causing problems. Doesn’t really seem to make a difference though.

Nah, I don’t have my hard disks going to sleep either. I’ve been told before it’s not good having them go to sleep.
I don’t think anyone is accessing my computer either. I know nothing about networks, so I dunno why or how the network it set up. Maybe just for internet access? My computer has an ethernet cord going into it, so I’m assuming everyone else’s does too. I can see everyone’s computers on the sidebar in a Finder window.

is the deck recognized by FCP when it’s launched? What is happening specifically? Just saying, “It doesn’t work,” is kind of vague and is hard to trouble shoot

Nah, it is what I was looking for. I was looking for the Simpsons episode. I wanted to know the story concept/movie reference to help me find the episode via Google. Wasn’t really interested in the movie itself. I’m sure the Simpsons episode is slightly different from the movie.

hmm….i understand what you mean, but I don’t think it’s what I mean, haha.
What I’m thinking of is all the characters start in a common scene. When they split up, you follow one character’s story to the end. Then you go back to that common scene and follow another character’s story to the end. Then you go back to the common scene and so on.
I’ve been trying to find the Simpson’s episode that did this, but maybe I can just develop my idea more and pitch it to my coworkers without showing them an example done by someone else.

have you tried right-clicking the clips in FCP that you can’t find and then choosing “Reveal In Finder?”
