At work I’m trying to remap my keyboard, but these new Apple keyboards have OS shortcuts that interfere with FCP.

For instance, the volume keys are F10 – F12. Even if I map a FCP shortcut to be Command + F10, still only the volume command works.

There’s also a button that opens iTunes and F3 and F4 seem to be expose commands that I can’t disable in Expose’s system preferences.

Anyone know how I can change/disable these shortcuts? I already dug around in system preferences. I’m trying to get my keyboard at work to match my keyboard at home.

    Thanks!

Yup. Those are the obvious places to check and I already checked them. I see nothing for changing the keys for volume and I don’t even have any keys set for expose. So I don’t know how to turn it off for F3 an F4

Turn on the checkbox for using F keys with applications. You then have to use the fn key in conjunction with the volume control keys.

    All the best,

i can’t seem to find what you’re talking about, Tom. Thanks anyway though. I’ll just deal with what I have – stills beats tape to tape editing, i’m sure.

In System Preferences>Keyboard, front panel, check Use all F1, F2, etc keys as standard function keys. Have you checked that on?
