I’m a duffer but I’ve been running Resolve 14 on OS 10.13.5 with no crashes. I thought R 15 was still in beta and not for sale.
There are lots of instructions online about how to install pre-High Sierra OS if you have a copy of the OS to install.

I defer to Shane but have been running FCP Studio (FCP7) on Mountain Lion (OS 10.8.5) which I thought was the last version to run it.

I’m keeping a legacy computer that runs Mountain Lion and FCP7 and the first Pr CC version. Cause Larry Jordan says he does this. Dual boot sounds the the smart way.

Enlightening info from Todd Hopkins. I didn’t know DVD could hold 480p — I thought it was interlaced only. I understand NTSC uses rectangular pixels — square pixels are for digital display only. But I could be wrong.
Hollywood films and some TV productions get that super-sharp, bright look with high-end large-sensor (or film) cameras, expensive lenses. elaborate lighting, and a crew of DP, camera operator, assistant camera, focus puller, and others laboring over each shot, one shot at a time. Then elaborate color correction. That’s why the images hold up so well on DVD.
Most NLEs offer an option to export to a standard DVD-type source file, or they used to.
But it won’t look like a commercial feature unless you shot it that way.

Many “small” independent movie-makers must still use several separate drives like I do.
I wonder what people did before the network storage technology.
That’s where I still am with the multiple drives.

Do you use any of these?
I guess I wasn’t looking for database software so much as ideas about tracking the physical external drives themselves. Not the individual files they contain.
But maybe one of these apps would do that.
Right now I made a log list of the physical external drives in Word, but it could be in a different software.
My external drives are in 2 different locations and plugged/unplugged at different times for different purposes.

I use Adobe Media Encoder to convert Sony mxf files to ProRes, just because it’s handy on my machine.
