Had trouble with that method, but I think I’ve found an even better approach. Export your sequence as an XML, but change the type to version 1 XML. Re-import the xml and you can suddenly re-capture. Works great!

Hey Wayne, Thanks for posting this! I’ve been looking for the same workaround. You can also export an edl and re-import, but the clips end up with different names.. Seems like there ought to be a simple way to change the metadata so you could just capture. You mind sharing your email with me? I’m in Chattanooga and am also a long time XDCam user. Love to share info. bstone{at}atomicfilms.com

  • What I’m trying to find out is if there’s a way to force fop to capture through the timecode off the deck like from a tape? What tells it that the clips were looged and transferred? And can that be changed?

  • XDCam can work both ways. You can hook the deck up through firewire and treat it as a drive and using sony’s software load footage. OR you can log and capture just like you were using a tape deck. Even though this program was captured using the former method, there must be a way of capturing it using the log and CAPTURE mode. I know at the least I can export an edl and re-import and capture that way. but I’m looking for a smoother method. IF I use the SONY log and transfer, I’ll have to re-load the all of the entire footage, even footage that didn’t end up in the edit, which is what I’m trying to avoid.

  • I want to be able to re-capture everything at a later date should the client want revisions or updates a year from now. Surely there must be a way to just digitize or capture from the deck instead of using log and transfer. Also, because it’s XDCam, the regular log and transfer window doesn’t link up to the disk like it normally would if it were P2 or RED
