Go to Preferences – Spotlight – Privacy and then add the location of the FCP X back up folder (its in user – movies – FCP Backups or something like that.

    Tried this…. it helps… a little better….
Also disabling the thumbnail view in time line helped a little…

I found that with the thumb nail view on, when you zoomed in and out, the HARDRIVE with the footage on went crazy/noisy, and the whole thing slows down….
kNock off the thumbnail view, which is not helpful, and the system is still sluggish, but the hard drive is not being hammered on every zoom in and out…..

    So glimmers of hope…….

    Hi
Yes that is the exact problem……..
And I suppose cutting into shorter segments may work, …..
BUt at the moment Im working concerts that run to 60 mins…..
Im being given the audio which matches my time line….. Im worried that cutting it to shorter songs/sections will mean a nightmare keeping everything in sync, as I have 9 cameras to sync up…
    who stopped and started….
Ive managed to sync them all to the master 1 hour audio from the concert…
Also the audio is being constantly updated/mixed, so I need to replace the audio every couple of days with the new one…..
with it all as one long time line, its easy to keep sync and update the audio….
    Will look into compound clip…
BUT… It doesn’t say ANYWHERE in the advertising or manuel that FCX slows to crawl with long projects/timelines…… not a happy bunny….
Going to try Premiere Pro an see if thats the same….

    Hi
It was originally created on an earlier version…. I know that may be problem…..
BUt I’m so far into the project , with loads of cuts, etc……
IS there a way to make it more compatible with 10.1 without re doing it all….

Also when I tried to recreate a fresh project with a nMP it was the same, starts off quick and lovely, but once you get over 25 mins with lots of cuts the timeline slows, over an hour anita its horrid…

    Also using PROXY doesn’t help….

Its trying to find where FCX access the power to navigate and move around the timeline, especially when you have say 100 cuts,etc….. disabling wav or frame view doesn’t help, either…

Frustrating….Im I the only one this happens to…
    i.e:
Create a time line that runs over 30 mins with say 8 cuts per minute….see if the zoom slider slows and the time line is slower…..
