    Hey Steve,

I bought the cam new. I have all the docs. I am trying to mount my shotgun to the cam and do not understand what I need to do it.

    Thanks,
    Robert

Thanks Dale and the others who replied.

I am not that good at keeping from accidentally banging stuff together. The Portabrace did it’s thing on Friday. The raincover keep the cam dry. An added benefit is that the CBA-HPX300 has a pouch at the rear that works good for my small wireless receiver. The drop-in is too expensive for a part-time shooter. I will take note of the heat and remove the CBA if it seems the cam is getting fried.

Unfortunately in my area not much snow stuck. South of me it snowed harder and accumulated nicely.

Hope your Sunday or whatever goes well,
    Robert

So either y’all busy or don’t care or I’ve made ya mad:-)

Anyway, ordered the Portabrace CBA-HPX300 for Friday morning delivery. Figured I would be mad if I dinged up the cam having not bought the cover. Comes with a rain cover that is black on one side and white on the other.

Maybe it won’t be too cold for the crazy lady from across the street to hold the white card for me:-)

    Have some fun,
    Robert

    Here’s more feedback,

    Fire the person responible.

Never Never Never remove a feature.

I have used this feature on my G5 with an Aja card and enjoyed having it with the Intensity Pro on my Mac Pro. Although I have not used it since upgrading to Snow Leopard, I had a reason to use it this morning and now I cannot. I have a Sony professional HD CRT monitor and thus no HDMI to use to feed the MacPro desktop to the CRT unless I want to buy an additional adapter of some sort. Perhaps let us ATI users have the feature?

Not happy at all and the situation adds negatively to my already low opinion of the Intensity Pro and Blackmagic.

    Hello,

The grey screen crash is known as a kernel panic. If the MacBook (Pro?) was OK after that and able to format the P2 card successfully then it is probably not related to the crash. By the way, kernel panics these days are rare. Please make sure you run Software Update and that you have the latest updates. Also check with the Apple website or call Apple to see if there is a firmware update for your machine. I did not see in your earlier post if you are on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Some P2 adapters do not have the proper drivers for Snow Leopard.

Having said all that, my guess it is the camera. If you go back to the frame rate you used previously do you still have the distortion in the video? My thinking is that if it occurs playing back in the camera then it is a camera or P2 issue. Try a different frame rate/codec and let us know what happens.

    Good Luck,
    Robert

Wouldn’t R-Undelete or something similar on Windows work? Assuming the card has not been written to. Usually FAT32 filesystems are not really wiped. Only the directories are cleared. Probably need to put the card in a Windows notebook that supports cardbus.

    Good Luck,

[Dale West] “One of the best items shipped with the camera is the user manual. Spend a few minutes with it.”

One a those guys, eh? 🙂

I have read the manual, some parts several times. Did not see anything about this, can you point me to a page for this?

Is this a safety thing so folks don’t overwrite stuff they may want? Is it a limitation of the P2 tech?

    Thanks for your reply,
    Robert
PS: Glad I’m not the only one use “ya” 🙂

    Ah, now I get it.

So a SDI capture card and Quicktime Broadcaster should work. I would get on the Quicktime forum @ Apple and see if 720 will work.

    Good Luck,
    Robert

[Dan Brockett] “You would need something like the NewTek Tricaster, I believe”

Nope, ustream.tv or stickam will work for free.

I just tried this with my 300. 480I was all I could use but you can select DVCPRO50 and get widescreen. Works on my Ustream account with the cam plugged via firewire to my MacBook Pro 17″ (early one, core duo) running Snow Leopard. Curiously I ended up running Google Chrome for Ustream as Safari was crashing and Firefox was somehow preventing my login(no plugins running).

I do have an Aja LH in my PowerMac G5 so I hope to try SDI tomorrow. Not sure if the Ustream app will see the SDI/Kona driver but something tells me it will.

    Y’all be cool,
    Robert:-)
