I’d have to convrert to HDV in a third party program and then to Prores in compressor for FCP use.

Not having worked with XDCAM I have basically not much of a clue but this sounds wrong. Have you seen:

    https://documentation.apple.com/en/finalcutpro/professionalformatsandworkflows/index.html#chapter=8%26section=2%26tasks=true

I see nothing in there about HDV as an intermediate step.

    Y’all have some fun,
    Robert:-)
PS: Fortunately there is apparently more adoption of AVC Intra so folks can avoid long gop.

Having used HP drives in my day job of IT consulting I am about to buy this when they call me back:

    FYI:

This man shipped the ATTO card and blank tape but has not shipped my drive and BRU PE license. He got my PayPal payment on 6/20 .

I am in touch with PayPal, the Scramento DA’s office, and a lawyer.

    Y’all be cool,

Then in your keyboard settings map “rewind” and “fast forward” to whatever keys want (I have min at up and down arrows) … voila. Now you have FCP-style back and forth.

You a good man. This really helps as I use this a lot to check my work and compare edits, clips, whatever.

    Thanks,

At the risk of hijacking the thread, the latter is what I am trying to do. S gives me trim mode and I do not want that.

    Thanks,

    Solved it.

I had made a bin for DNXHD but the import failed. This time I just copied the .new files out of the main bin to the DNXHD bin. I made sure all of the .new files were selected in the DNXHD bin. I right clicked on my copied synced sequence in the main bin and did a relink to selected files in open bins. And they linked. Now the timeline plays smoothly.

This is at least twice now the relink to files in open bins has saved me.

    Have a fun Sun.,

    Hello,

With the Load Media Database (thought I did that before but it was late) and making sure the tracks are selected it relinked some but when I reopened it the links seemed to be gone. I manually replaced the main rear cam clip with it’s transcoded counterpart but the handheld clips are still pointing to the AVC Intras. The main bin has both the linked Intras and the transcoded. What is the right way to link to the transcoded? I am going to reboot as I am seeing what may be a memory leak in Sym6. At least one other poster on another forum is having what appears to be a leak.

Waiting on MicroCenter to get my order ready, going to 24GB to see if that speeds things up.

    Thanks Bouke,
    Robert
PS: Originals are AVC Intra for the handheld (have the AMA plugin installed) and ProRes from AVCHD for the rear cam clip.

    MacPro Early 2009 6GB RAM, 650GB and 1TB internals. AVIDMedia Files are on a WD 6TB Raid0 via FW800.

The win would be to make stuff a preference. Some folks are trying to help people understand this over on the Avid MC Mac forum. We new folks understand that some may want things to stay as they have been. Give us a preference for this and many UI and other things. Even a notalentwannabe such as myself is finding many of the ways Avid does things as odd. But I would not want to hamper the longtime users.

As I said in another thread (please sort by DATE not THREAD as the Cow does not put updated threads at the top) my current frustration is bringing a fairly simple FCP7 project via AAF into Symphony 6. A version of the same project imported into PPro 5 then 5.5 then 6 through XML very nicely. In Symphony I get offline media and it will not reconnect.

    Y’all be cool,
    Robert

  • Checked the AMA option and now I get segmentation fault when importing the aaf into Symphony. Will try for the fourth time to download 6.0.1.1 .

    Robert
PS: I have CS6 Production Premium on another machine. Can I do FCP to PPRo to Avid?

  • This is my problem with Symphony 6.0.1 . Cannot relink.

Anybody have a clue? Not a pleasant first experience with Avid editing.

    Thanks,
    Robert
PS: Not sure I have the AMA relink option set.
