I suggest you ask to see the repair bill to them from Panasonic and then take it up with Panasonic if there really is one! Panny has been repairing them for others for free, so why should you have to pay?

    Jan,

May I suggest a simple temporary fix to save Panasonic thousands of dollars in repairs?

For a few dollars, (or for free) make available some rigid plastic strips, sticky on one side, to stick on the upper and lower edges of the battery tray, so that the battery doesn’t have any “play” up or down, (slight interference fit) even when the camera is bumped hard. They don’t even have to be any particular thickness, as they could be placed further in from the edge as the space decreases in size, the closer you get to the offending tabs. But further out and thicker would be best to give the best support. The weight of the battery is just too much for the little tabs, and this would take the weight off the tabs in all but the roughest handling.

And then recommend that the battery be removed in transit.

Meanwhile the next model can be re-designed to correct this flaw.

I have had luck in the past (when in film school) shooting the Super-8 footage off a screen or sheet on the wall and turning the projector to 15 fps rather than 18 and almost no flicker, you just have to reset the aperture on the video camera for each scene if they vary in brightness.
