March 4, 2011 at 5:41 pm in reply to: Photoshop files don’t look good in FCP

I digitize a spot that came in a Digital Betacam
NTCS 720×486 29.97 Field Dominance: lower (even)
The agency send me a psd multilayer logo (1650×1200) that I have to add.
I import the logo to FCP then I add the logo psd multilayer file to my sequence and It dosen’t look good.
What I do is go inside the psd sequence and grab all the layers and add the to my original sequence and then the look good.

I think the problem is a Field Dominance my sequence lower and the psd file is none.
How do I mix Field Dominance???

    Thanks,

Thanks Zane and Paul for replaying.

This happen to me in all sequences it dosen’t matter if it is SD or HD in any size.
If I drag the psd (with layers) file from the browser to the timeline it look jagged the file so I go inside the sequence and copy all layer and aded to my original sequence and I have to rearrange in size all the element in the psd file.

This has happen to me if I rendering in 10bit YUV, cheek sequence settings/video processing and change to 8bit and all is OK, I don’t know why it do this but it’s a fix for me.

Another problem that I have is that this plugin make FCP or Motion crash many times.

Thanks Mark for the response, I have AJA Kona LHi so I can do the downconvert to DigiBeta, question my client want SD 4×3 full not 16×9 so I have to realign my graphic (text/logo/etc.) so they don’t go out of my title/tv safety, I am new to HD and FCP but it would it be better to edit all in HD and when I need to add graphic/logos/Motion graphics/etc. to do it in a SD 720 x 486 project. Again I am new so I listen to all recommendation.

Thanks Bob Zelin for the response.

Sorry, what I ment to say is that we didn’t purchase the KLHi-Box so we are using the KONA LHi Breakout Cables. It is a new Aja LHi card and cables.

I live in Puerto Rico and we purchase the equipment to a Florida company and I we pay to do the connection so we dont have to worry if anything was wrong AJA, G-Speed es Pro, etc. but I think the install but didn’t make any test (Digi Beta/ Beta Sp,etc)

I talk with AJA suport and did many test without any look so AJA is going to send a new card with cables.

Thanks Chad and Bob for the help.
