I went through the docs suggested by iZotope’s Tech Support (and having a busted-down demo version did not help, nor did they resolve the crashing in SVP 12 that I had to figure out myself). I tried to correct the anomalies in the sample clips (orchestra, speech, etc.), but not only did I not know what I was doing but anything that I did apparently made no difference! They did not steer me to any tutorial that I could follow along, step-by-step, and make corrections, much less understand what I was doing!! I am very disappointed with the way that they treated me, so I guess that I will save my hard-earned money for SVP 13 and the New Blue upgrades. If anyone knows of a way to learn RX3 before purchasing, please let me know.

April 20, 2014 at 12:06 pm in reply to: 1080i render for web

So I rendered several 2-3 minute Wedding/Bar-Bat Mitzvah demos (HD videos) that were on my SVP 12 timeline (1920X1080, 60i) to MP4 (1080, 30p), and they look great in VLC Media Player. When I upload them to YouTube, 480p looks good but if I crank up my viewing to 1080p (HD), I see random horizontal bending in the video. This bending is not evidenced for these same clips if uploaded/played on Vimeo or Weebly. Is YouTube possibly creating this visual anomaly because I do not have a paid account with them, or is it something else? I can’t figure it out–any ideas?

I completely uninstalled/reinstalled iZotope RX3, and the crashing disappeared. I believe that the two sets of dlls are 32-bit and 64-bit versions. I only see iZotope VST plug-ins in SVP 12–no standard DirectX versions are in the audio plug-ins selections when that box pops up. I believe that DirectX versions are installed, I just don’t know where or how to access them. Are there test files out there with bad audio that one can access to learn how to use iZotope’s repair features? This would be of great help!

I downloaded the trial today. In SVP 12, the VST Declicker, Declipper and Hum Removal plug-ins all work, but the Decrackler, Denoiser and Spectral Repair plug-ins crash (in several files) when I attempt to OK the respective plug-in for trial use. These crashing plug-ins DO NOT crash when in the program’s standalone mode. FYI, I have New Blue plugins in my C:\Program Files(x86)\VSTPlugins folder AND BlueCAt and Izotope plugins in my C:\Program Files(x86)\Steinberg\VSTPlugins folder. Vegas has all of these listed in Options under the VST tab. Curious is that where the Izotope VST files are located there appear two DLLs for each plug-in, for instance: iZotope RX 3 Denoiser.dll AND iZRX3Denoiser.dll, the former 2 megs and the latter 11 megs in size–and both have the same date/timestamp (as do the like others). Any thoughts about all of this? I sent a trouble report to Izotope, and hope that it can be worked out before the sale ends or it won’t do me any good!!

Bob, thanks for your candid appraisal. Your input is much appreciated. Your observations have helped me to determine that I will purchase the basic version, and if needs be, upgrade at a later time should my audio restoration needs require such. Also a big thanks to everyone else who has contributed to this thread!!

No doubt that I now am sold on this product. The main question is which version I should purchase. Any suggestions on how to decide? Is the Advanced version so advanced that it really is made for Hollywood level audio correction? I am hoping that the basic version alone will do wonders, but…???

So then, the question Mike is: has the standard version adequately worked for you? Have you had one or more occasions where you wish that you had the Advanced version and absolutely needed the added features? This is a BIG decision with a potentially BIG price tag, so I want to be sure that I am not purchasing the whole farm when all I need is the barn (LOL)…and what about the sale prices–good deals, in your opinion?

In your opinion, John, is the Pro version good enough or would you recommend the Elite? Most of us need something easy to set up and simple to use, and I am not sure that the bulk of us out there are familiar with gamma curves and such. Please advise for us middle-of-the-roaders.
