All simple, project-based compound clips created on the timeline. For example, I create a title, add a transition at the head and then create a compound clip. Later, when I need to adjust the title, I can’t break it apart. There doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason to when this happens. Some of the quirks I’ve encountered with FCPX will disappear with a reboot – not this one, though.

This has been a typical part of my workflow since I’ve been using FCPX. I don’t think I’m doing anything differently than I was prior to 10.0.3.

I’ll crawl back under my rock now. Clearly, that’s where I’ve been 😉

Thanks. I came to the that conclusion after some reading. Seems like a mild hassle just to strobe footage in FCPX.

Let me clarify my initial post. I’m talking about zooming to a portion of the timeline–not “zooming” e.g. the Ken Burns effect. BTW, did Apple really have to call it the “Ken Burns” effect?

  • Thanks for the input. Animating the opacity works, Patrice.

Tom, I see what you mean re: connected clips and storylines. I’m just getting up to speed on FCPX, so the storyline behavior is new to me.
