Peter – great to hear from you!

So you sandwich (best term I could come up with) the microphone between two overcovers and then put an undercover over that? I just can’t see it.

Yes – it was a rustling noise. I think the problem will be resolved with overcovers…or the fluffy cover.

Thank you – I knew there was an alternative cover. I will get them!

does audition have documentation to help understand how to use the tools you mention – or is there another source? I have terrible luck trying to hack my way to better audio. I end up butchering it.

Thanks again, Joe. I too use normalization and compression – yet I’ve felt there was more I could do. 100% of my work is in the field. I too use a dual system with DSLR – TASCAM. Sometimes I have to use a Sony NXCAM and its microphone inputs are not as good. I then find myself trying to boost the bass to give it a richer sound –

Thanks for your help – I have a much better idea of what I’ll probably need to do.

I too am interested in this question. I do not use Pro Tools – and the toolset in FCPX for audio is not as nice as I think I need.

Thank you Joe. I did see the Adobe video. I am mostly interested in how you work with voice overs or interview audio in Audition. Do you apply filters or perform other sweetening? As I mentioned, I’m very careful with placement of the mic and record volume – but the audio quality is not as nice as I’d like. When I listen to good audio, I notice a more robust sound with zero “noise”.

Is there an Audition workflow you have to do this? Or what’s your overall philosophy about this stuff? Maybe it’s not an issue because you do other things?

Many thanks to Mr. Groom for his heroic repair of my audio problem. I cannot thank him enough for his help after other determined such a problem couldn’t be fixed. The client approved and all is well.

Now I’m trying to figure out how I can repay the favor.

Peter: The entire reason for posting my message was to see if the problem could be fixed. But I dropped the idea after it was suggested broad white noise/static cannot be removed without causing harm to the rest of the audio. I’d love to get someone’s opinion as to whether the file can be fixed or not.

If you can send me your email address, I’ll forward the clip to you.
