How do I get text to transform from anchor points?

I want text to grow from the left justified anchor point, for example. Then the next line to grow (transform) from the right justified anchor point.

You can adjust text anchor points in two ways: in the text editor with justify – and in the video with the transform tools.

You’d think the anchor points would serve their purpose and allow the text to transform from that spot in the text line – but I cannot accomplish the desired effect consistently.

Any suggestions? Should i build the graphics elsewhere and import rather than attempt with FCP X’s control tools?

    Thanks!

You can do this by creating custom titles in Motion and the applying them in FCP X. If you’re not sure how to to it, you can check out my tutorial here:

Motion Quick Tip: Custom Titles for FCP X

It doesn’t address the specific animation you’re talking about, but there are text behaviors inside Motion that will animate tracking or scale or individual letter position. Once you have the animation working in Motion, then you can save it as a reusable title template in FCPX.

Great – thanks Andy – I assumed that would be the case. I appreciate your help.
