Panny’s hvx-200 will do this, just takes a bit of planning.
First, you need to be shooting at 48fps or 60fps (if you don’t know how to do that, it’s in the manual).
Second, you do the time remapping in post. I use final cut pro for this (this is also in the manual).
For time remapping I use 4 key frames, much like using audio to duck-out a loud bit, the middle key frames are what I move around. You can also had bezier handles to make the ramp smoother. Time Remap means the clip will still play the same amount of time, say 2 seconds, but the keyframing will allow you to play some frames faster or slower than normal.
You need to shoot 48 or 60fps in order to avoid some blur, i.e. the water drops.

Let’s talk about contracts (oh the joy).
Do you insist the client sign your contract?
What do you do when they insist you sign their contract? Also is there some legal issue I’m overlooking here? I mean, it doesn’t really matter to me if the client sends me a work for hire agreement that their team of corporate lawyers wrote. But what do I know? Is that a bad idea?
My terms are pretty simple. I need 50% to cover my costs, in advance. Then I’ll invoice, cash the check, and give them all of their footage. And I’ll end-up editing a couple of spots for them too.
Thanks

I’ve already spent 4 hours in phone calls, over 4 weeks. How much discussion should I have with the client before it seems ridiculous? 4 hours in 4 weeks seems ridiculous, but what do I know, maybe that’s normal. Is it?

After searching ebay for telecine, I found a bunch of products, so depending on how many reels need transfering, buying your own gadget might not be such a bad idea.

I hate how the MS Word X moved all the stuff, when I was used to it. I mean, just today, I was looking for the autocorrect menus…couldn’t find ’em.
So please don’t mess with the cow too much. Just because you might be bored with its look and functionality, doesn’t mean that it really NEEDs anything.

Fact is, regardless of how much it gets changed and or the advertising gets more ubiquitous, I’ll be here often because the information is golden.

Value proposition, does it work from both ends? I’m currently struggling with this.
ME: here’s the video but the audio file I received is poor.
CLIENT: here’s the new audio
ME: here’s the 2nd video.
CLIENT: My bad, I gave you the wrong information.
ME: I can fix that but it’ll cost X I’ll do it for half.
CLIENT: Complain complain complain. Please help me here with regard to the value proposition. My price is already a bit low.

Didn’t they say something similar about distorted guitar? I’m not old enough to have experienced the 60s. Anyway, now that sound is very expensive and spawned a whole new style of music and expression.
But it isn’t the instrument, it’s the artist.

Okay, a contract, a PO, and 50% deposit.
This is a series of videos.
Does that mean, the 50% deposit is on the total contract value?
For example, 10 spots at $1/ea means $5 to begin the job.
OR
.50 to begin each spot?
Thanks again!

Lots of assumptions are being made. My question: What is an educational client? A school? A publisher? A university?
