Now, I’m trying to talk you out of that. So I decided to cut a film for a first time director (long time writer), and it took me an additional 3 hours just to get the thing moving with any inertia, what would normally take 15 minutes. I spent a lot of time reading the manual, just to wrap my head around “events” and then bit of time to actually do it. There was a bit of swearing involved.
Cutting an episode, with a deadline? Oh man, you are brave.

Have you used the sync function in X? I’ve only used it a bit, but it’s magical.

Interesting, because I find the keyword feature to be the best thing about X, and it is the earliest part of editing, for me.

F) If they add it, I would want to turn it off. The viewer, for me, is moot as long as the skim is available. And actually I use a quasi-viewer from time to time. I choose the option to see the clip in 1/2 second intervals.
But it could also be possible I didn’t use the viewer efficiently in 7. How did folks use it?

Are you talking about X?
I find it extremely simple to cut js and ls, and just as easy to see ’em or not using CTRL-S.

Is there a keyword index file?
So in the future as I start to backup old projects/events I can see an index of what keyword media exists in backup and on what archived drive it might be on.

Oh boy oh boy am I gonna hear it…but I’m gonna say it anyway. I would convert to FCPX. No foolin’! For $300 plus the new $10 7toX app.
On the other hand, you could have a lot of fun transcoding in Compressor and relinking.

Step back a sec, and consider how the machine is working.
In the settings, you tell it where the Capture Scratch is and where the render files need to go. Then you have footage on two drives, plus render files.
Imagine how it has to pull data from all those places!
