You also have no need to work with color if all you want to do is fix white balance. Look at the Cow Podcat library for how to use the 3-way color corrector or check out our advanced title on FCP color corection.
With all of that said…. dont make more work than needed.

Try reformatting you card and see if that helps
Also check the quality/speed of your cards

You can find tripod heads that are fluid heads that will work with photo style tripods. Look to the same manufacturer of your sticks as a starting point. Vendors like Adorama and BH carry a wide selection

I’ve also used Photdiox adpaters and quite happy. Duclos in Hollywood can mod the lenses too.
