…this can be done with the radio waves effect..using a mask of a sine wave..at least in 2d space.

they have plugins for this…but they are not free…I have not seen a free version of it anywhere

you could always precomp by moving to a new comp…then adding the force motion blur effect…its a bit slower but should do fine

duplicate in the project window with CTRL D…duplicate in the timeline with CTRL D…hold alt and drag new one from project windo w into comp…its now a new comp…repeat …

turn snapping on in the toolbar and just animate each letter by itself..

its not wave …or it could be but the text is actually moving up and then a displacement map is added.or maybe just a non animated wave

if you take out all the pictures does it still take a long time to render…maybe converting the pictures to a smaller format would help?

if its just one word you need to scatter…i would do each letter manually. ..since it would be pretty fast to do..otherwise i would probably use element 3d with 2.5D text

can you use mocha..if you draw your mask in mocha and track forward you would get a very sturdy mask

In your tracker window you need to hit EDIT TARGET. then choose your null, then apply…you have the motion data applied to the clip itself which is no help for anything
