Didn’t use an UNCONTROLLABLE DEVICE. When I go and check the item properties of a clip in my timeline it will give me the proper IN and OUT as well as the correct tape, which are all correctly named. But even when I set up the camera right close to where the timecode corresponds, and attempt to capture it, it still rewinds or sits in limbo, trying in vain to find the missing timecode.

I resorted to this method and yes it just rewinds to the beginning or sits in limbo trying to find the timecode.

Unfortunately I didn’t digitize the original footage. Otherwise it would have been in HDV already. But I don’t believe it was captured using CAPTURE NOW. What I have noticed is the difference between capturing DV and HDV, where HDV is breaking up the tape into many separate clips, and DV runs straight through with only one clip. Anyway, most of the footage I’m trying to capture is mid-tape, and I’m using 10 sec of pre-roll and 5 sec of post-roll, and 5 sec handles.
And yes, when I media managed I did set to HDV. God I hate tapes.
