There you go, Sam! So for a typical two track, checkerboarded sequence, I’d have cam1,adjustment layer, cam2, adjustment layer stacked on the timeline. And Paul. Thanks for the tip on on saving multiple effects within a single custom preset. I think I’m starting to get it. It’s an old dog/new tricks thing. Thank you all for your help!

Thanks to both of you. It just seems a little strange to me to have a “Paste Attributes” function without the ability for one to define which attributes they’d like to paste. It’s an “all or nothing” destructive process that has gotten me into trouble on more than one occasion. I’m just having a bit of a time grasping how this all works coming over from a rusty FCP background.

Thank you both for responses. I just feel that the multi camera tool is half broken. I want to utilize the simultaneous multi-clip viewer with my normal jkl workflow. I want to simply navigate to my cut point, look at the multiple angled clips, and mouse click on the chosen clip.
Instead were having to do a live rough cut and then go back and redo every cutpoint with the ripple tool? Why not just do it right the first time around?
Adobe has unfortunately confirmed that it is not in the current plans to do any changes to the tool. They suggest stacking layers and resizing each clip in the program monitor. This was my old multi-cam workflow back in FCP3 about a decade ago.
I am on the trial version of CS6. I think I might owe Edius a look before making any Premiere plunges.

You know. I agree! I’m getting a little tired of continuously noticing limitations around every corner with EVERY editing app out there.
I left the editing scene back around FCP4. It did everything (In SD, DV codec) that I could have ever wished for. I’ve recently stepped back into the editing arena with nothing but frustration. The old tools are gone today! I want my basic workflow back. It’s like the tech world reset itself and put the limitations on us to correct for them. I’m tired. Where’s our old tools? ex: Source footage reference files? Snap to razor? Cs6 Premiere is the closest I’ve found to old school, but is still severely lacking. Can nobody even match where Apple left off on FCP4?
Sorry to rant, folks. I’m just frustrated and can’t understand why things like this even exist. I need my old tools back!

Can anybody offer any suggestions, please?

Thank you very much for your responses. You have been very helpful.

Thank you, Guy. Just so I understand, ALL of the editing programs should have some secondary function other than the typical “import” function available to correctly bring in 4gb segmented AVCHD footage? My apologies if these are elementary questions. I’m an old school editor but new to AVCHD.

I’m sorry but I’m not sure I understand. How would I go about using the copy command in order to accomplish this? It’s not a gap “sometimes” as you have experienced. It is a 15 frame audio and 1 frame gap 100% of the time. I have sent the .mts files to a client and want to be prepared with how to tell him to successfully stitch them back together when he gets to the point of editing his show. However, I’m not sure of the editing program that he will be using. The gap that I am experiencing is in Sony Vegas and I have no idea how to make the show seamless again.
Thanks

Ahh… I didn’t realize that a nested sequence could expand back out to its original separate clips. This is good to know. Thank you for informing me, Andrew!

Thanks for your reply, Andrew. My only issue with nested sequences is that they are flatted down into single master clip which dis-allows further editing of the sequence. I’d like the option of having multiple sequences of rough drafts. For example, one sequence per interview setting of a documentary. Upon completion of all rough cuts, I’d put them all onto the same timeline and continue editing. A flattened nested sequence would not allow this.
I was finally able to carry intack clips over as you had suggested; by opening separate instances of Vegas, copying and pasting. The problem before is that I was opening Vegas, copying and then opening the second sequence within the same instance. The clipboard info would not carry over to the second project as Vegas was closing and reopening. Thanks for your time. This is good to know.
