when you mention re wrap are referring to the transcode workflow?

I read about re wraping, Divergent Media has a product exclusive to change the file format without transcode. But I never try this solution.

Is it effective?

thank you all for your quick reply.

My normal ingest workflow includes Edit Ready for transcode the proxy + optimization for Prores, but then the media management is done inside Premiere CC witch is very transparent.

My problem with FCP X is that it hides the ingest structure files inside the Library.

And in the end I will have 45 day of shooting with aprx. 140 reels that have to be delivered to the Colorist along with a xml file, and I don’t know if changing the AVCHD file structure will affect the final relink with the original files.

Do you know if the AVCHD file structure has any metadata important for the Color Grading?
If this structure is just folders inside folder without any add-on to the post workflow (like the .THM files on the Canon DSLR), I will remove the files immediately to another renamed folder.

I’ve been reading about replacing the proxy/optimized files inside the FCP X Library (right click on library file / reveal content), because I want the proxy and optimized media already have the LUT defined by the DOP.

Unfortunately FCP X only allows some pre defined camera LUT (ex: Arri; Canon; sLog2; etc). So I’m trying to replicate my normal workflow and override FCP X optimization settings by transcoding all the files in EditReady and then replace inside the FCP X Library.

Do you have any experience with this FCP X optimization override?

I was in doubt, because unlike the official Ultrastudio Extreme specifications, in the Ultrastudio 4K specs there are no reference too UHD to HD down converting.

Well…i did.

I’ve a 21′ Apple Display as second monitor, and in the apple MBP page:

“Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display…”

I sincerely hope it works on a second display. Do you have any experience with 15′ MBP?

I also read that are a script that scales the Resolve to 80%, showing the entire layout, despite it doesn’t work with Lion i will run with a previous OS.

I really hope its runs ok.

Hi Joseph,

I’m a Final cut/Avid editor, all my important applications are Apple only.

I’m upgrading my home laptop to start learning DaVinci Resolve but to do some edit work also.

Still very confused about the investment i’m going to do, because i always read that Resolve wont´t run on Raedeon board’s, so the new Macbook are out of equation.
Now i found on a Portuguese e-bay a mid 2009 Macbook Pro 15” 2.53Ghz with a Nvidia 9400m that could be a good entry level to Resolve.
But as Juan mencioned if the new Resolve runs on every mac that have openCl (with some limitations) i prefer buying the new Pro 15”.

My major confusion is that i just finished reading an article saying that Resolve definitely won´t run on the new Pro, and still no confirmation about the Geforce 9400m compatibilty, and i don’t no what to do about my investment.

Buying new is always better (i7 core, thunderbolt, HD matte display) but i could wait for all that to get my hands on Resolve.

Ok, so the new macbook pro with Raedeon cards will also run the free Resolve version, but with the limitations you mention above.

Dam, if i knew that before i hadn’t spend the past weeks searching for a mac with a Nvidia card 🙂

My knowledge on Resolve is, yet, really basic and i don’t need high performance just a machine to pratice and do some tutorials.

You said that will run only with GL, but isn’t CUDA essential to open Resolve?

I had the same problem.
A client sent a omf exported from CS5 and i had to import the file in Soundtrack (no problem here) and export the tracks as an audio file.

The problem is only from CS5 to ProTolls, does anyone nows the cause of this?

Until now i couldn´t play any file from Mark II.

perhaps is the processor like you said. That’s not very good news.
I´ve to downconvert the files.
