    Hi everybody,

Thanks for all your help. The reason I want to have this setup is because I already own a lot of Windows software that I want to use with the new machine. My idea is to use bootcamp (which should be perfected by the time Leopard comes out) and setup the Mac mainly as a Windows machine.

So I can hear the crowd saying, why don’t you just get a PC? Well, there are many good programs for Mac that I’d also like to use, and this gives me the opportunity to have the best of both worlds. Also, like moldyboot posted, I know my way around a Windows machine better, and am more confident I can solve the problems that arise with Windows than with OSX.

Thanks for the info on the array Brian. Do you guys think that a raid array made in OSX could work in Windows using MacDrive? I’ll try and ask Mediafour, and if I get any solid info I’ll put it up.
I’m a little dismayed that nobody has actually tried all this out. I’m pretty sure that I’m not the only guy that’s thinking about this, so if someone has any experience, any info additional info would be appreciated.

Hi, thanks for your response. I’ll tell you where I’m at.

I did a test run with winrar and my blackmagic-10 bit codec video, and it reduced the project size to less tha half (13 Gigs in about 2 hours).

I appreciate the advice to compress the video to motion JPEG, but that would mean compressing every idividual piece of video, and then re-linking them in my project before storing it away. It’s clearly a good idea, but I’m looking for a solution that takes the least amount of time possible.

    Thanks,

    Ricardo
