So does this Raylight Ultra ($195.00) from DV Film allow me to view and/or edit these Quicktime files?

Hey guys, thanks for the effort.

First off, there are no original camera files to be had. These guys wipe them out as soon as they convert them to MOV files.

The camera files from there rig are M2T as I recall. My HMC40 produces MTS files that I edit using Vegas 9.0e.

And finally, no- I cannot play them in Quicktime. All I get is audio, just like in Vegas. The info just says DVCPRO HD and whatever resolution. It does not mention Pro Res or anything like that- but I believe that utility or another FCP user are required to make anything usable out of them.

You mean the Quicktime files transcoded off the P2 right?

Because I can read the MTS files from their camera without any problem.

    Aha!

    Now I get it. Thanks!

  • You might ask the people that will be dubbing it to tape which format they prefer. Maybe like MP4?

See that’s what I was hoping to avoid. I have no idea what codecs they might have installed- and doubt they’d be inclined to install one on my behalf.

The images appear several times per page- one beside each listing.

What I ended up doing was purchasing a utility that allows Word to merge in images. Unfortunately it only allowed embedding the icon images, but it worked okay since it was simple graphic.

I still had to manually align each one to the right (got pretty good with the In Design hotkeys). But at least the merge allowed me to have the correct icon beside each listing. Otherwise I really wouldn’t have any hair.

Actually I’m using PP 1.5 now.

Thanks for the tips, I’ll see if that speeds up my rendering.

    Oh well, thought I’d ask.

It’s not *that* inconvenient copying to tape- then plugging into the DVD recorder. I just thought if I could pass through the camcorder directly to the DVD-R it would save a step.

Still seems like it should work.
