[Aaron Cadieux] “Ok, let me see if can get you to understand my logic.”
I don’t. I think you’re an egocentric spoiled brat. How does that sit in your universe?

[Aaron Cadieux] “Then, people like you are still harping about the look of the web site when that had nothing to do with my original post.”
Well, it does. Every communication that you put out to public is an indicator. Pretend I’m a potential client.
Right now, you suck. What are you going to do about that reaction? Blame the potential client? Or get your act together? Stop being such a whiner. You’re a friggin’ baby.
Welcome to the real world. I don’t think people are mean here – they’re realistic and accurate and experienced. Can you deal with that?

[Aaron Cadieux] “Creativecow is great most of the time, but sometimes it’s like banging your head against the wall while being surrounded by a ‘holier than thou’ mentality.”
Give me a break! Your website sucks. Big time. You can’t deliver up video. What do you want people to say here?

[Aaron Cadieux] “The spots are now on YouTube.”
I don’t think YouTube is the place for any video professional to exhibit their work. The encoding on YouTube is horrible by any standard. Delivery is everything. Professionals should know how to deliver video to the internet.

Ditto everything Bill just said. The web-site is migraine-nasty.

I’d go with the 6 1000 lights and get 2 C stands with booms – one boom to backlight the talent and one for mic. And egg-crates for all 6.

[Mark Suszko] “”Hot Pock-ets”…..
Oh yeah, the zazz is back in jingle creation… well, maybe not:-)”
Sung to the tune of ‘That’s Amore’
“When an ell
lunges out
and it bites
off your snout…
that’s a morey.”After 20-200 views of a first class jingle, I’ll have you reciting it for the rest of your life. Why?

I am an extreme lighting novice … The savage lights are less expensive… Is there a signifigant reason to buy lowel other than name?”Yeah, speed of set-up. Lowel’s Rifa’s are incredibly fast to set up.
But you don’t need that advantage for what you doing. Go with the Savage, same lamps, same stands – three times the value for the money. It’s a no-brainer.
Make your decision and get back to us.

[Timothy J. Allen] “I have a friend who ran a very successful ad agency for more than 20 years. He told me a couple of years ago that “the Head On spots are brilliant!”, “They aren’t art, but they work”.”
Kinda like jingle advertising of the 50’s and early 60’s – I still know them! “See the USA in your Chevrolet lalala…” So incredibly effective! “Zoom, Zoom, Zoom” Jingle producers were in high demand and got top dollar – we may see that resurgence as the subtle gives way to staying power. “You’ll wonder where the yellow went, when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent!’

[Aaron Cadieux] “It seems like breaking into the cable advertising market is kind of difficult.”
Around here, it’s easy – you just have to be willing to suck a big Comcast egg. The problem with our local cable is that Comcast has their own studio and throws in the spot as part of the deal – they produce very simple spots. But they do get in jobs where the client wants more. Get on their ‘A’ list – which means good work for little – (they don’t want to lose a client because of high prices for any given campaign) – and they don’t want you directing him – advertising wise – to anything else.
The better way is to create a web-site and do an Adwords campaign with all the right key-words, like “Comcast spots” etc. It may cost 50-100 bucks a month but your prices can be more realistic and you will probably end up winning some clients for your agency.
It’s an either/or. If you do a website you have to explain how a crappy free spot from the cable company ain’t goin’ to get the job done. Burn the bridge or suck eggs.
