Although I am not the FCP expert usually when dropped frames occur it’s because of disk speed. What disks are you trying to capture to? This may give the FCP experts a better shot at answering your question.

They shot 60 for troopers that went to film in Asia, DVD here in the states.

An OEM insight……
I would like to add that the AJA products continue to be at the front of the pack when it comes to a solid foundation for digital images!
We have never had to settle with these products and they have always proven to be a well engineered product. We look forward to every new board release because we know they won’t give up quality to get the new features we need.

OK now I’m ready for lunch and Toronto is a bit of a drive. Guess I will settle for our local Primo burrito. I was impressed that this little hole in the wall, actually more like a hole in the ground(they were in almost a basement) was as good as a great little tacoria in SF that we visit. Nothing beats good mexican food!

With Marco on this one. SATA has been the solution for a while, although SCSI isn’t entirely out of the picture you can’t beat SATA for space and thruput. RAID is not a problem given you have enough disks.
Just to put things in perspective:
Just a few months ago it took 24 drives to give us the thruput for RGB in RAID, we are getting ready to release a 8 drive system that will do it(IN RAID). (We have been aware of this change for quiet awhile and have been counting the days).
You can expand with SATA if it’s planned out and yes Fiber is ALWAYS a good choice.
