    Thanks!

    Also…
For, the samsung footage i wanna retain best quality so Prores 422 is perfect. However, other footage i have is of a lesser quality (from youtube) and transcoding it to to Prores would take up way too much hard disk space. Wondering if there is another format i can transcode my other footage to, which i can still use in the same project as the Prores 422 footage.
    Please let me know,
    thanks

trying to trim a 1080hd video clip shot on a samsung galaxy s9+ phone.
    using Premiere Pro 5
late 2008 macbook with 4gb ram, 1tb SSD

  • Unfortunately,
I downloaded Adobe Premiere Clip to my phone, and it’s just like every other video editing phone app i’ve downloaded and tried in that YOU CAN’T EDIT down to the frame where you wanna cut. You have to press play and then pause at the exact frame/spot you want, which never works, or you have to use your finger to drag to the place you wanna split the video, which again, is not precise.
All i’m looking for is a phone app that allows me to cut/split video at the exact frame i want.

  • Thanks, but does rotating & especially re-scaling degrade the quality of the video?

  • Greg,

Normally I use FCP for all my editing. But that requires always transcoding h.264 footage to prores.
So I decided to try Adobe Premiere instead so i could avoid transcoding, esp for this little task which i’m doing right now which is just to edit out parts of a clip.

    OK THANKS,
I transcoded to PRORES 422 with Compressor. The only problem is that the video came out stretched horizontally.
I forgot to mention that this was filmed with the phone held vertically (taller than it is wide), not horizontally. I want to keep it like that. Any setting i should change in the Prores parameters so it exports vertical like the original?

    Thanks for info!
But i don’t have the option to reshoot, I must use this footage.

But FORTUNATELY, my edit is very simple. All my footage is in one 2 minute clip and the only job I have to do is to cut a section out of the clip, that is all!
And I don’t mind if there are tiny aberrations.

Given these circumstances, can you recommend a way to get this video into FCP7?

If converting from 50 fps down to 29.97, won’t it end up deleting some frames? ie, less motion detail
