    Ok!
    Did some tests:

Got a maximum of 3 streams to play at ProRes 422.

    Questions:

-With BOTH the clips and sequence set exactly the same format, when dropping a clip into the timeline FCP asks me if I want to change the sequence setting to match the clip setting. ??
I say yes and it’s happy but nothing appears to change… is that a FCP thing or am I missing something?

-In 2 or 3 stream mode I get the ORANGE render line, but no perceivable stuttering, looks fine; if I render I lose the multiclip view- I can only see one stream in the viewer. Is this normal??
(I always play from the canvas).

    Yes, thanks- now I know!

Hopefully I will be able to run multiclips smoothly…

Thanks- except that, without hijacking my own thread(!), I’ve run into playback problems now that I’m needing to edit a multicam/multiclip section…

Needing to run 2 to 4 video streams at times.

    My 27″ iMac/FW800 setup won’t “cut” it!

Hence the need to go to a less demanding (without compromise to 5D file quality!) codec…
