‘2: When it asks if you want to render to “effect source” drive (or something like that), it means the drive the original media is on that you are rendering from.’
Really? I did not know that, I always assumed it was just the drive with the most space on at the start of a session.
    Thanks, learn something knew…

    Alan,

Had a look at the Project File and even I find it a little confusing.
Maybe this is a good subject for one of your Video Tuts?
Also, be good if you could show a Lower Third actually being created by a Particle (might be a good companion piece to Elvis’s Disintegration Tut).
    Just an idea.

    ps.
Is it me or has Elvis and Aharon been scarily quiet in recent times…

Yeah, I think the default is 30mins, but if you go into your Capture settings and the MXF Media Files tab, you can specify a maximum capture time there.

November 13, 2008 at 9:43 am in reply to: Saving an effect for video (HELP please with keying)

You are essentially not saving the effect with an alpha.
Make your effect, press the red Export button, select AVI as your file type (or QuickTime on a Mac), and make sure that you select the Alpha option as well.
Save it out, then import it into Avid (you might have to invert the alpha on import).
    No need for keying.
It can get a lot more intricate then this, but this is the basic way, and you’ll find help on this in the Tutorials you get with the software.

I’d be very interested in that as sometimes you’re on a machine that doesn’t have any additional software except your NLE.

November 4, 2008 at 5:15 am in reply to: BCC Keyframe issue

Having the exact same issue on Symphony DX v3 (reported it to Boris Support).
The ‘Constant’ interpolation is more a Boris Red/FX thing as these options don’t exist in BCC
(I know this is the FX forum, but there you go…)
Hopefully this will be ‘fixed’ soon.

September 1, 2008 at 5:27 am in reply to: Codec with alpha to exchange between FCP and Avid?

Quicktime Animation Codec is safest – though will be a larger file.
Alternatively, you can download the Avid DNxHD codec (note: this is for HD only), which now supports Alphas is a fantastic codec and will massively reduce the filesize.

Though, to be absolutely safe, go with the Animation.

June 16, 2008 at 1:20 pm in reply to: Confetti for wedding

Glad you made your own confetti,
I’ve actually got 3 or 4 confetti emitters in one of my libabries that don’t turn up in the search (probably called something different). As I’ve changed the names and stuck them into one of my own libabries, I’d be happy to email you them if you still want.
    Just leave your email.

    Good luck.
