I wasn’t expecting it to automatically mix itself, I was going to mix it in Final Cut (and round tripping it in Color before exporting to Quicktime).
What I want to know is if the sound that exports out of Final Cut with the Quicktime (that I’ve mixed within Quicktime) will be sufficient or if I have to sent it through Protools.
The Client wants a mono track set to both tracks of a Beta SP tape set to certain general audio levels which I will set in Final Cut.
Any ideas how to do this without a Protools mix?

They do a huge business on the internet, so I’m thinking they’ll want it full frame. But who knows:)?
Thanks!

January 22, 2010 at 7:38 pm in reply to: Adding a Graphic to a 10 bit Uncompressed Sequence that will be laid to Beta SPthat’s a great idea, but they want the graphic (which is a widescreen matte like the old ibm ads) to frame a 16×9 image in 4×3. If I convert the whole thing last won’t I’ll get a matte in a matte?
But I will have the graphics guy do a 1920×1080 version when they inevitably ask for a 16×9 version of the thing.

It was a pixel aspect ratio issue. We’re both used to staying in the same AR thoughout a project so this was a puzzle.

FCP interprets the graphic correctly in an NTSC 720×486 sequence, but not in the 10 bit 720×480 sequence.

January 22, 2010 at 1:25 am in reply to: Adding a Graphic to a 10 bit Uncompressed Sequence that will be laid to Beta SPWe are shooting a 16×9 project on the Red at 4K and cutting and color grading it as a ProResHQ at 1920×1080.
The client wants the final version delivered on Beta SP at 720×486.
I will be laying the final version into a 4×3 sequence at the end of this process and adding the graphic (this was recommended to me on the RED forum).
Then I will export a 10 bit uncompressed Quicktime at 4×3 to lay to BetaSP.
Make sense? Don’t ask why they’re shooting on the Red for a BetaSP program. Not my decision.

thank you. I did that search and tsunami of information made it very difficult to find the answer to my specific question. I was hoping for a more specific answer at the last minute. If this is not the place for this, I apologize.
Ive sifted through the last 3 months of posts and I think I have my answer.

thanks.
I’ve been searching for the a post with the information listed from import to edit. What I really need to know is how to deal with the externally recorded audio if one converts from 30 fps to 29.97 fps and how to do that.
Any comments are still welcome while I search.
