I thank you all very much. Your comments have been very helpful. I am still very surprised that Premier Pro does not have some kind of combining capability for cut tracks to digitally splice the tracks as one. Oh well. I ended up just replacing the mutilated track with a fresh un-cut one and I am now using some EQ, compressors, etc.
