hi

i use similar deck – dsr-1500 ap

first – you connect computer and deck using serial cable to RS-422 port

2. link computer with deck by firewire cable
system must found deck (in periperials and printers)

3. in avid add deck (i dont remember menu)
4. change start/stop and etc command using by com3, com4 – not firewire

or

another (i think) link is

link only firewire cable

(system must found deck)

go to avid, add deck and using firewire port to commands

or other

link using SDI (i now use MOTU device)
and command start stop set by serial cable

all above tricks works

For pro task use pro gear.

For SD : DSR-1500 – cheap and good i buy used (in half 2012) for 1000 GBP – full options, Analog in/out board and SDI, low hours
For HDV: HVR-1500 – litte expensive, but i found used close 3000 USD

for hdv i have JVC-BR-HD50 – i don’t use hdv format – deck for sell (800 GBP) – not used for almost 2 years

few years ago i have similar problem, half to half blue picture
sometimes camera work good, sometimes picture is blue or half to half blue.

CCU unid is damage,

change this block 80% price of camcorder

this is factory defect 200 and 250 JVC models in early seriers

my camera broken exactly few weeks after guarantee expired
(after few years)
few thousand dollars going to trash

JVC – HDV1
Sony – HDV2

but some years ago we shoot on 2 cameras, jvc-100 and jvc 200 (in hdv mode)
and cameras is INCOMPABILITY
tapes recorded on 100 don’t play on 200
its litte difference in hd modes.

I don’t try play these tapes on BR-HD50, but i think it is works.

Hi

We travel from USA to Canada with many, many gear. 2 camera, tripod, lights. (full car of gear)
And NO trouble, we shot in Ontario for 2 weeks and back to Chicago.
