October 18, 2008 at 11:54 pm in reply to: mpeg2 via compressor/episode contrast issueThanks Daniel and Ed but in fact the current solution for this task i s simply to use episode stand alone without compressor. In this case the contrast black level and luminance are correct. Now I must understand why there is this kind of troublesooting with episode used thru compressor. I will give some news.

October 17, 2008 at 3:46 pm in reply to: mpeg2 via compressor/episode contrast issueI mean episode compression launched from compressor (in fact an export from FCP via compressor with episode settings).
OK Daniel but how can I tuning them? I haven’t found any settings for chosing them on Episode. (for coulour space there is only ‘same of source’ or the coding depth 4.2.2 and 4.2.0) I set same of source (dvcpro-hd) and the result is bad. -

October 17, 2008 at 3:15 pm in reply to: mpeg2 via compressor/episode contrast issueOn a calibrated monitor (JVC DTV24L3D via Kona 3). The dvcpro-hd and hdv playbacks are ok on it and on QTplayer on the Mac as well as mpeg2 from compressor compressions but not from compreesor + episode

October 17, 2008 at 2:50 pm in reply to: mpeg2 via compressor/episode contrast issueThank you Daniel I will explore this way. But I’ haven’t found anything about BT601 BT701 on the episode user guide. What does it mean ?
I don’t know yet for the Canopus. I will receive it tomorrow. I’ve just notice the problem with quicktime player and another hard disk video player : the DVICO M-6500 -
OK Jeremy thank you. I see what you mean. You are probably right. I will test further asap.

But in this case why is the Kona able to display the TC with the ‘burn in’ function in the picture?

25 frames per second (1080i50)

Eventually I managed to play the sequence after a rendering with the settings “without compression 10 bits” or “8 bits” (the both work). It wasn’t obvious because the playback of FCP works without any rendering for this element. I must understand why this rendering is necessary in this case. Thank you Walter for all your answers and have a good day ! Regards.

Sorry Walter the two posts were two different questions (I should’nt have send it at the same moment).
I’m currently editing a project in dvcpro HD and furthermore I’m testing a short uncompressed movie on my configuration.
I’ve no specific problem with dvcpro – I’ve just noticed I could playback it in 8 bits but not in 10 bits and I wonder if it’s normal.
The other point seems stranger because the Aja control panel identifies the data (YUV 8 bits) but whatever the settings are, the video is not correctly displayed through the Kona. The last settings are
for the playback Aja Kona 1080i25 8 bits (1920×1080)
for the sequence : 1920×1080 HDTV 1080i(16:9)
square pixel – frame field odd
compression : nothe Format window of the Aja control panel read ‘YUV 8 bits’ during the playback

Thank you Walter but even after I ensure that all the settings (playback & sequence) match with the clip informations – 25i (1080×1920) no codec – the playback still doesn’t work through the Kona whereas it works on the Mac (full screen).
