Well, I’m running everything on a recent MBP with connections to a stack of G-RAIDs via Thunderbolt monitor. I’m not overly concerned about performance, but was just wondering if I added a Thunderbolt 3 attached SSD and used that as the media cache drive, would there be any significant performance benefit overall? I’m seeing disappearing waveforms all over the place in 2015.2. Many mp3’s simply will not display their waveform in the Source monitor, or in the timeline when cut in. Many other mp3’s, however, display perfectly fine. It seems very random, frankly, though to date I’ve not seen a waveform disappear for a WAV or AIFF, I believe. Resizing the Source window does not fix the problem. This on a trashcan running 10.10.5.

I’ve just switched to Yosemite and Premiere Pro and am seeing exactly this issue. A simple 2V/6A timeline with all source material ProRes 4444 that would give no problems playing back from my GRAID in FCP 7 is just horrible in PP – playback is terribly stuttering and lots needs to be rendered. I’ve tried the suggestions here to no effect.
