Thanks for the feedback so far but I’m not sure i’m getting the feedback I’m looking for.

The main point is that Final Cut Pro does a very bad job of processing stills. If you work with digital stills Final Cut Pro has to process them into video on the fly- leading to two problems: 1)it takes a long time for FCP to do the processing and so this bogs down loading sequences that are still heavy and even slows down trimming/editing in sequences as the system “processes media. 2)This process is eats up memory quickly leading to problems where you can’t even see some stills in a sequence because the RAM has been overstuffed with stills. Eventually, I find that you get a lot of system crashes because the processing of stills has hogged up so much memory.

In the past, working on an AVID, when you imported stills it created video media of the stills and this would be the best solution for FCP- If the stills were turned into video there would be no need for all the processing that bogs down the system. Shouldn’t there be a stand alone program that allows you to quickly batch size and process stills into video with file names for linking to original stills in case you needed to go back to originals for higher resolution on your online.

I’m always shocked that I don’t find more complaints about this issue on the internet. An offline is for editing. To be constantly bogged down for processing is a huge headache for me. Does everyone take this problem for granted or is there something I’m missing and nobody else has problems with stills?
