I too am looking for the same thing. Is there a housing for the head of the HXR-MC1?

    Hi David,

I just got through doing something similar, but the clips where a bit longer and required nearly immediate playback for group commentary of the presentations. What I do is use a file-based camera (Sony EX-1) which has two 8GB cards installed. As each person finishes their presentation I switch to the next card and am ready to record. In the meantime I take the express card and copy the file over to two USB drives attached to my laptop (which has the express card reader). A 20 minute presentation takes about 4 minutes to copy over to the drive.
It is best to have a data wrangler to handle the file copying, but if you like to live on the edge as I do you can do both…

    Thanks for the post Dennis.

I need to clarify a couple of points:
The 12×20 greenscreen will be up about 10feet off the ground, just enough to give headroom for the talent. So in effect the screen will be 12×10.
I have not used 2 – 4Banks with green tubes to light the screen. I have used 4 soft boxes with 500w lamps to light the same size screen. So you are right, I don’t have that specific experience with Kinos on greenscreen, but have used kinos before for keys and fill.
My goal is to minimize what I do need to carry for lighting. In looking over other posts of folks that are doing something similar they seem to agree that renting the lights locally is the preferable thing to do, so I’ll probably do just that.
In terms of the talent lighting, that is of course paramount and they will be lit separate from the background.
I just don’t know if 2 kinos are enough to light the screen, but I agree 4 would be better. Just trying to keep the budget down without sacrificing quality.

Sorry if my post wasn’t clear before. Thanks!

I’ve either stumped folks with my question, or nailed the right answer. Anyone care to comment either way? Thanks!

    Hi Fredric,
You didn’t miss anything. There isn’t an on/off switch. What I did was mount my MBP2 in a rack along with a Furman M-8 power condition and plug my MBP2 into the Furman (along with my decks). The Furman has a power switch on the front so at night when I leave I can shut everything down. Also makes it easy to power-cycle the MBP2 when I need to reset the connections.

    Hi Eric,
If 720p works for you, or 1080i, then you might consider this JVC player. https://www.pro.jvc.com/prof/attributes/features.jsp?model_id=MDL101546
I’ve used these in digital signage applications and found them to work well.
