Thanks for the info! I will look into it, although 5k is too expensive..

Thanks! I won’t need the option for uncompressed HDMI output of the GH2 but I will definitely look into this camera more.

Thanks, I already read that. I decided to, although the image quality seems to be lower with them, buy a ‘zoom lens’ instead of a ‘Prime lens’.

Something like 17-135mm or 15-85mm I don’t know what a good lens is to primarily shoot video with.
Because it would like to have it the following:
    – Fast lens like F2.8 or more? Or F3,5 or more
    – Have a zoom
    – Not to high sharpness because this will oversharpen the video I read?

Do you accidentally know a good lens?
    Thanks,

    PS:

Is a kit lens the lens you get with the camera standard? And what is exactly the problem with the not constant aperture while shooting video by them? I couldn’t understand that part.

What is the use then of the files and directorys on the card when the quality is not touched when only copying the .mov’s?

Ah thanks, but does this mean that I got lucky and are within those 10% with the good hardware so I can edit H264 with no problem? I have edit several (small) projects for myself and never had any problem.

Importing H264 and rendering goes just fine. I have edit pretty much with H264 in Final Cut and never had a problem. Are you sure H264 is still not supported in Final Cut latest version?

You are great, yes you’re right when changing scale or something else in Motion tab it needs to be rendered. But so is, when I have a ProRes sequence.

But I have another question, since I’m always after perfect quality. In Apple Color in settings the export codec is, by default, set to ProRes (HQ) so when I send my FCP H264 sequence to Color and send it back, I see that my sequence codec has been changed. When sending this ‘Sequence 1 (from Color)’ to Compressor, will this change of Codec affect the quality? Or will the changes made in Color directly be applied to the ORIGINAL-file?

And from your answer before: So you can change the render framerate to render faster while editing but you have to put it back to 100% just before sending to Compressor?

    THANKS!

Thanks! That makes it more clear. So the other ‘points’ I wrote are true?
And when I set a new sequence up with compressor/codec H264 I can play realtime, or is this something else? I have RT set to unlimited

No I don’t export reference movies.
Altough it’s faster because it uses the render files instead of the original clip where it applies the color correction from Color, the Titles, the effects, effects in Motion once again to the original file ALL in compressor, right?

So I would like to know, what settings should I use, to get theorically the best quality (even when it’s not even noticably).

    – Same resolution as source
    – Codec doesn’t matter (when sending to Compressor) so I go with H264 (same as source) because this is the only codec that will have some real-time playback
    – Video Processing set to: Render all YUV material in high-precision YUV
    – Render control doesn’t matter: for example setting Frame Rate to 25% for faster rendering doesn’t matter!! And the Checkbox below: ‘Always Use Best Quality When Rendering Movies doesn’t matter too’ (because render files will not be used?)
    – What should be done with: Master Templates and Motion Projects – Quality: Best or Normal or Draft? (also under Render Control – Sequence settings)
    – System settings: Under playback control: Video Quality Dynamic doesn’t matter because it only affects the ‘playback’? (same with the frame rate)
    – System settings: Under playback control: Record: Full (what the heck is this about?)

If someone would be able to check this than that would be amazing!
    Thanks,
    Phil Huizen
