I’ve had similar problem which rectified after doing a “Trash Preferences”
Also I seem to remember reading somewhere that updated versions (I think it’s now in it’s second or third version) of the EOS plugin were not compatible with re-importing media previously imported with an earlier version.

Soundtrack has a “Noise Reduction” facility that’s fairly simple to use.
Larry Jordan has some excellent Soundtrack tutorials.

live HDMI or component video output Maybe possible on a Panasonic GH2. All other DSLR cameras give a dirty feed via HDMI.
external viewfinder Zacuto, Cineroid, SmallHD
power zoom Not really possible unless you connect a wireless Focus / Iris device to the zoom ring.
peaking and zebra You’ll get that in an external viewfinder
no jellocam problems Canon EOS C300 or RED Scarlet (probably out of your price bracket)
ND filter for gain ??Please explain?? Perhaps you mean ND filter, try a Variable ND.
remote focus Oki via USB with a Canon, but a number of other devices from Hocus Focus to Preston.
for sound: XLR connectors Beachtek, Juicelink but you’ll need and external recorder too for best quality – Zoom H4n, Tascam
minimum HD quality They’re all HD of some form or otherIf you want most of these features built in start looking at the Panavision AF100, Sony NEX FS100, RED Scarlet, Canon EOS C300 or Sony F3 but they’re not actual DSLRs and are more expensive, especially the last three mentioned.

Yuk messy! Similar to my Shake install. Needs to be installed prior to my FCS as the older Shake software breaks the newer FCS.
Does this mean you actually have to re-download FCP X ?
Had to do too many complete system re-installs this year due to upgrades breaking all archived and new Quicktimes recorded on a Firestore drive.

Hi Piet,
FCP 7 should have moved to folder within your applications folder called Final Cut Studio when you installed FCP X. All FCS apps will be in this folder.You can’t open FCP X and FCP 7 at the same time. You can no longer round trip between FCS applications with this configuration (this can be fixed by reconfiguring the folders somehow).
I like Walter Murch’s description of FCP X, in comparison to a grande piano you’ve got an upright, its got keys, it makes music, its in tune but…..

I own a 7D and JVC-HD111E.
For long events when a full record of event is absolutely necessary the JVC-HD-111E is the only camera I can use with a firewire Focus Enhancements DR-100. (By the way Quicktimes recorded on these drives whether archived or new will no longer play or load on a fully updated OS 10.6.8 or OS 10.7 system).
The only long events I’ve shot with the 7D are final dress rehearsals of theatrical productions that run for up to 2 hours but this is for TV commercials to promote the event and we shoot with and number of HDSLRs (5Ds and 7Ds) AND a Sony EX3 on a locked wide shot that can run for the duration and record audio. In this situation it is unlikely the HDSLRs will button off and on again at the same time close to 12 minute limit mark, so little is lost.
I have never had problems with overheating, but the 7D will give a prior warning, the 5D will just stop without warning. I have noticed that on one occasion when shooting interviews almost continuously for over a 3 hour period the images from 7D seemed to get a little noisier later in the shoot, but I did not see an overheat warning. I live in a warm climate. Perhaps as I read somewhere this is due to using very high quality fast CF cards that allow more efficient processing of information.
In summary I always use the JVC for live event work and would not even consider only using an HDSLR or even multiple 7Ds without at least one long running camera for the main record.
I am considering ordering a Canon EOS C300 but even here the zoom range of available lenses is not as good as on regular HDV type cameras. (Which is another issue with using the 7D).

Ha! Coldest wettest summer I can remember. Had to turn on the heater the past couple of nights, never had to do that in December the 43 years I’ve lived here in Sydney!

Could be a Lion thing. Are you using the later cx1120 version of the plugin? Oddly when you go to the Canon downloads page the Plug-in doesn’t show up unless you select OS X without specifying which version ie 0S 10.6 or OS 10.5. I know it doesn’t work in OS 10.4, but it does say OS 10.6 or later. Does this mean OS10.6.8 or OS 10.7?

This has happened to me a couple of times on OS re-installs. Try trashing FCP’s preferences.
